Maid of the Mist to continue operation in 2012

After some threats to cease operation of the Maid of the Mist boat tours, it is now confirmed that the boat tour will indeed be operating this summer beginning the season April 12.

The 2012 season was put into question when Maid of the Mist lost the tour contract to San Francisco based tour operator, Hornblower Cruises & Events, which won a 30-year Canadian contract in February 2012 and plans to use larger boats and serve food dockside. The contract with Hornblowner begins in 2014. Maid of the Mist had threatened to cease operation on the Canadian side but now have committed to this season.  It is uncertain whether they will continue in 2013.
