One of the most popular tours is the “Cave of the Winds” tour. The tour is on the U.S. side of the falls. For $11 per person, or as part of a Niagara Falls pass, an elevator takes you down 175 feet into the Niagara Gorge where you can feel the enormous power of the wind and water and get a chance to get up close and wet. The line moves quickly and once you are out of the elevator you have as much time as you need. They do provide a rain poncho and non-slip water sandals.
This is one of the most amazing attractions Niagara has to offer. To not only be a few feet from to the torrents of the falls, to get wet from the falls, but to feel the power of the water is incredible. Walkways and stairs are very slippery, so yes – you do have to wear the sandals. Don’t miss the Hurricane Deck – you will get wet – soaking, to the bone wet – but again, to feel the power of that water is incredible. The views of the non-soaking decks are fabulous.
In the spring, special “Cave of the Winds” tours are offered so visitors can experience a seasonal version of the attraction and see the decks being built for the upcoming season. Watch as skilled workers rebuild the boardwalks that lead to the Hurricane Deck – the decks and walkways are removed every November and reassembled each spring to protect them from the extreme winter conditions that exist in the Niagara Gorge.

Another exciting attraction is the “Maid of the Mist” boat tour. The “Maid of the Mist” boats are a great way to experience the Niagara Falls. They take you directly to the base of the falls. The rides start from the jetties, both on the U.S. side and the Canadian side of the river, every 15 minutes. Waterproof clothing is provided.
