Fort George
About:
26 Queen St, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON L0S 1J0 905-468-4257
Description: NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE. Built by the British in the late 18th century as a frontier stronghold, this fort was a prominent player in the War of 1812. Restored to its early status in the 1930s, Fort George now presents a glimpse of war-time life. Reenacted battles, period musical performances, craft demonstrations and authentic dress set the scene at the military installation, and knowledgeable guides ably share details of the era with interested visitors. Special events are also held intermittently at the fort.
